Police Investigate Alleged Sexual Abuse By Martial Arts Instructor

SHIOLH – Shiloh Police said Friday, Feb. 6, 2026, that a 32-year-old Jiu-Jitsu instructor has been charged with multiple felonies after investigators looked into an “inappropriate sexual relationship” involving a teenage female student and possible incidents at the suspect’s residence in Shiloh.

The St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office issued a 13-count warrant charging Kody R. Strunk, 32, of the 100 block of Kathy Drive in Shiloh, on Friday, Feb. 6, 2026.

The St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office’s 13-count warrant was as follows: Criminal Sexual Assault (5 counts), each Class One Criminal Felonies, Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse (5 counts), each Class Two Criminal Felonies, Child Sexual Abuse Material (Two Counts), each Class One Criminal Felonies, and Unlawful Grooming, a Class Four Criminal Felony.

On Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, the Shiloh Police Department reported that it was contacted by the St. Louis County Police Department in reference to “an ongoing investigation of an inappropriate sexual relationship between a Jiu-Jitsu instructor and a teenage female student who belonged to a gym in their venue, and of possible incidents which occurred at the suspect’s residence in Shiloh venue.”

On Monday, Feb. 2, 2026, the victim provided a statement to detectives from both agencies, which provided critical information to the investigation. On Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026, the suspect was taken into custody by the Shiloh Police. The ongoing investigation, which included the service of multiple search warrants, was jointly conducted by detectives from St. Louis County and the Shiloh Police Department, and on Thursday, April 5, the case was submitted to the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office for warrant review.

The investigation began after the Shiloh Police Department was contacted on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, by the St. Louis County Police Department “in reference to an ongoing investigation” involving a Jiu-Jitsu instructor and a teenage student who belonged to a gym in St. Louis County, and “possible incidents which occurred at the suspect’s residence in Shiloh,” according to a Shiloh Police Department release.

On Monday, Feb. 2, 2025, the victim provided a statement to detectives from both agencies that police said provided “critical information to the investigation.” Strunk was taken into custody by Shiloh police on Wednesday, Feb. 4, according to the release.

The investigation, which police said included the service of multiple search warrants, was conducted jointly by detectives from St. Louis County and the Shiloh Police Department.

The case was submitted to the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office for warrant review on Thursday, Feb. 5, according to the release.

Police said the warrant was reviewed by a St. Clair County judge and signed as valid.

“At this time, it is believed this is an isolated incident,” according to the release. Police asked anyone with information or who is aware of other victims to contact Detective Sgt. Kyle Bade at the Shiloh Police Department at 618-632-9047.

The Shiloh Police Department thanked the St. Louis County Police Department for its assistance.

Police noted that “all persons are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.”
