BELLEVILLE – Marquette Catholic’s baseball squad lost a tough one to Althoff Catholic 9-8 on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Belleville.
Jack Rea and Joe Stephan had big days for the Explorers with three and two hits, respectively. Eli Rodgers, Logan Sherman and Toby Eberlin added hits for Marquette.
Marquette rolled to a 2-0 lead after the first inning, then scored another run in the second and third innings and another run in the fourth. Althoff countered with one run in the fourth, but exploded for four runs in the fifth, two runs in the sixth and two runs in the seventh for the win. Marquette finished with two runs in the fifth and one run in the seventh, but came up just one run short.
Tyler Pollack and Robbie Smith had two hits apiece for Althoff Catholic against the Explorers.
