MADISON – The Madison Fire Department responded to a fire Friday afternoon at 10 Fox Industrial Drive in Madison.

The fire broke out at Interco Trading Company, prompting mutual aid from the Granite City Fire Department, Mitchell Fire Department, and Long Lake Fire Department. The Madison County Emergency Management Agency also assisted at the scene.

According to scanner traffic, the fire involved batteries inside a storage unit. Firefighters remained on scene for several hours working to fully extinguish the fire.

Interco Trading Company, according to its website, has been buying, selling, and processing computers, batteries, metals, and electronics since 1996, building a reputation focused on innovation and integrity.

This is not the first major incident at the location. In 2022, more than 200 firefighters responded to a five alarm fire at the same facility.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
