Tina L. “Teenie” nee Pierce, Murray, age 61, of Troy, IL, born on May 22, 1964 in Rantoul, IL, died on Friday, April 10, 2026 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL.
Tina attended school in Virden, Illinois until moving to Highland with her family in 1979. She graduated from Highland High School in 1982. For many years she worked at Artex International and then worked at Triad Middle School as a Special Education Paraprofessional until the time of her death. She poured her heart and soul into that job and loved the children like her own.
Tina and Mike were united in marriage on October 6, 1990. They lived in Highland and then moved to a home in Troy where she loved to fish and feed her “pet” catfish in the lake. They liked to hunt together, and Tina loved to “out hunt” Mike during turkey season.
Tina was loved and adored by her nieces and nephews. She was the “second mother” in their lives, and they brought her great joy.
Tina leaves a tremendous legacy of love with her friends and her family. There aren’t words to describe how special she was. If she saw something she thought you’d like, she picked it up for you. She could bring you to tears with laughter, and she was quick to tears herself-from both joy and pain. She always sang along to the music, and her hugs could heal you. She loved deeply, and she was incredibly loved. She was truly an angel among us. She found the good in everyone and helped us find the good in ourselves. That was her gift, and we’re all better for having known her.
Teenie was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Sharon, nee Clark, Pierce; her in-laws, William and Victoria, nee Bruske, Murray; and her brother, Wesley Pierce.
She is survived by her husband, Mike Murray; her siblings, Teresa (David) Carr, of Greenville, IL, Kathy (William) Harris of Greenville, IL, and Lucas (Sara) Pierce of Virden, IL. her sister-in-law, Lisa (Gary) Petty; her nieces and nephews, Michael (Bobbi) Koeninger, Matthew (Samantha) Koeninger, Dylan (Alex) Carr, Hayden Pierce, Jackson Pierce, Lauren Pierce, Katie Evans, Lindsey (Brittany) Stehlick, Kristine (Jeremy) Wehrle; many loving great and great, great nieces and nephews. Teenie is also survived by her extended family, Craig, Peggy, Craig Robert, Brittany, Bailey, Morgan, Mackenzie, Miley, Allison, Ryker, Andy, Joe, Kaiser, Ron, Kryp, their husbands, wives and significant others.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Triad Middle School Special Ed Fund in memory of Tina Murray.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.
