GRANITE CITY – A Granite City church has had a series of unfortunate incidents over the past year, including stolen air-conditioning units, a failing roof, and a vehicle crash that damaged the church building.
The church’s four air-conditioning units were stolen, resulting in “a loss of approximately $45,000,” the church pastors said. The pastors said the units are “essential to maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for our congregation, especially during extreme weather.”
The church also needs roof repairs or a full replacement, with estimated costs ranging from $15,000 to $30,000, the pastor said.
“This issue threatens the integrity of the entire building and must be addressed quickly to prevent further damage,” the pastors stated.
“Please help us to restore Shekinah Glory Church after devastating loss and damage,” the pastors wrote in a message seeking support.
In addition, a vehicle crashed into the church building, leaving “a 12×16-foot hole in the structure,” with an estimated repair cost of about $25,000, according to the message. The pastors said the vehicle owner had “only limited insurance,” leaving “the majority of the financial burden on our church.”
In their appeal, the pastors described the church as “more than just a building” and “a place of hope, healing, and community,” adding, “Now, we are asking for your help to restore what has been damaged and stolen so we can continue to serve and support our community.”
The pastors encourage supporters to donate, share the campaign, and pray.
“We believe in the power of community and faith,” the pastors wrote. “Thank you for your love, support, and generosity.”
