Haine Announces 10-Year Prison Term For Man Who Broke Into Dorsey Building

EDWARDSVILLE — A 41-year-old Canton man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to burglary stemming from a break-in at an office building in Dorsey, Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Haine announced on Friday, April 24, 2026.

Casey W. Sobberi broke into an office building owned by Waldbart and Sons Nursery on Jan. 5, 2026, with the intent to commit a theft, according to the announcement.

He pleaded guilty to one count of burglary, a Class 2 felony, and was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation. Assistant State’s Attorney Tim Forneris and Assistant State’s Attorney Tracy Baum prosecuted the case.
