
EDWARDSVILLE — Hunter Baugh hit a two-run homer for Edwardsville, but Triad got two hits and an RBI each from Brody Hasquin and Nathan Klucker and defeated the Tigers 4-2 on Friday afternoon, May 22, 2026, at Tom Pile Field.
The win extended Triad’s winning streak to 12 games and moved the Knights to 28-5. Edwardsville fell to 22-11.
Triad took a 1-0 lead early on back-to-back one-out doubles by Keegan Seipp and Hasquin. The Knights threatened to add more after Klucker reached on an error and Auggie Bugger was hit by a pitch to load the bases, but a strikeout ended the inning.
Edwardsville went ahead in the bottom of the third with two outs. Andrew McCutchen drew a walk, and Baugh followed with a home run over the left-field fence on a 2-1 pitch to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead.
Triad tied the game in the fifth. Braxton Yates reached on an error with one out, and Keegan Seipp was hit by a pitch. After one out later, Carter Gaskill walked to load the bases, and Klucker singled to center to score Yates and make it 2-2. A groundout ended the inning.
The Knights moved in front in the sixth. Nolan Keller doubled, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on Kannon Seipp’s RBI single to center.
Triad added an insurance run in the seventh. Hasquin led off with a single, moved to second on a sacrifice by Gaskill, advanced to third on a Klucker single and scored on Bugger’s groundout to second for a 4-2 lead.
Edwardsville was retired in order in the bottom of the seventh.
Hasquin and Klucker each finished with two hits and an RBI for Triad. Kannon Seipp had a hit and RBI, Keegan Seipp and Keller each had a hit, and Bugger drove in a run.
Keller earned the win after pitching a complete game. He allowed two earned runs on three hits, walked one and struck out six.
For Edwardsville, Baugh’s two-run homer accounted for the Tigers’ only runs. It was his only hit. McCutchen and Tyson Wampler had the other hits.
Chase Milburn, making only his second start since returning from injury, pitched two innings for Edwardsville and allowed one earned run on two hits, with one walk and one strikeout. Baugh worked three innings, allowing an unearned run on one hit, walking one and striking out five. Wampler pitched the final two innings and took the loss after allowing two earned runs on four hits, with no walks and one strikeout.
Triad concludes the regular season Saturday in a cluster at Roxana City Park, playing Alton at 10 a.m. and Roxana at 1 p.m. The Knights open the Class 3A Jersey regional Wednesday against Taylorville at 4 p.m.
Edwardsville finishes the regular season Saturday at home against Springfield at 10 a.m., then plays at Waterloo in a Memorial Day special at 10 a.m. The Tigers open the Class 4A playoffs at home Wednesday against the winner of a play-in game between Decatur MacArthur and Granite City at 4 p.m.
