SHILOH – A construction worker who was struck by a vehicle Friday morning, June 19, 2026, in Shiloh later died at a hospital, and the crash remains under investigation by local police and the Illinois State Police.
The Shiloh Police Department said officers responded at about 10:48 a.m. Friday, June 19, in the area of Air Mobility Drive and Maple Street for a traffic accident involving a vehicle striking a construction worker. The worker was later identified as Murphy Rodgers, 55, of the 100 block of Timber Drive in Swansea.
Officers began lifesaving efforts until EMS arrived and took over care, police said. Rodgers was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Police said officers made contact with the driver, identified only as a minor. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Shiloh Police Department for investigation.
The Shiloh Police Department contacted the Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit, which responded to the scene and began an investigation.
Shiloh Police said they have been working with the reconstruction unit and that the results of the investigation and toxicology will be submitted to the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office when the investigation is complete.
The Shiloh Police Department extended condolences to Rodgers’ family and thanked the O’Fallon Police Department, O’Fallon Shiloh EMS, and the Illinois State Police for their assistance.
