
David Lawrence Dahm, 68, of Belleville, IL, born November 19, 1957, died peacefully Saturday, July 4, 2026, surrounded by family.
David was a warm, outgoing man who was deeply devoted to his family. Known for his quick wit, engaging storytelling, and gift for impressions, he brought laughter to those around him. He valued education, loyalty, and his Catholic faith.
Growing up, David was a newspaper delivery boy. He also worked at Tribout’s Party Supply and the family-owned Town House Motel. After graduating from Althoff Catholic High School in 1975, David attended Saint Louis University, where he earned a BA in political science (’79) and an MBA and JD simultaneously (’83). David had a distinguished career, working as an officer, manager, and senior vice president of institutional trusts for a number of banks and trust companies in Belleville, Chicago, and St. Louis. He enjoyed many relationships he built with clients and colleagues.
David was passionate about being a father and being involved in parent organizations, gardening, musicals, travel, good food and making family recipes, including cowboy beans, chicken and dumplings, and coffee cake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver L. and Florence E. (Haas) Dahm; and numerous uncles and aunts.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Martha Dahm (Schilling); his son and daughter-in-law, L. Clayton Dahm and Hannah Bleecker; a sister, Ann (Dahm) Niebur; many nephews and nieces, including Phillip (Tammie) Niebur and Sara (Brian) Archer; and many great-nephews and great-nieces, including Tanner, Kailyn, and Finley Archer, and Hadley Niebur.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, Saint Louis Priory School, or the charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.
Visitation: Friends may visit from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.
Funeral: A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.
A luncheon will follow the mass.
Private burial will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
