ST. LOUIS COUNTY – St. Louis County Police have identified the motorcyclist killed in a crash Monday morning, July 13, 2026, on Lemay Ferry Road as Matthew Middeke, 48, of New Baden, Illinois.
The St. Louis County Police Department said officers from the South County Precinct responded at 7:17 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2026, to a call for service for a motor vehicle crash in the 2500 block of Lemay Ferry Road. When officers arrived, they found an SUV and a motorcycle had been involved in the crash.
Middeke was identified in provided information as the owner and founder of Middeke Brazilian JIU JITSU and as an owner and photographer at Midakeylightpics.
Police said a preliminary investigation indicates Middeke was traveling northbound on Lemay Ferry Road on a motorcycle when he was struck by a southbound vehicle making a left turn into a business’s parking lot. Middeke was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured, remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.
The St. Louis County Police Department Bureau of Crimes Against Persons and Accident Reconstruction detectives are investigating. Police said the investigation remains active and details may change as it progresses.
