JoAnn M. Buchanan, nee Mettler, 83, of Belleville, IL, born Wednesday, January 13, 1943, at the Mettler family farm near New Douglas, IL passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at her residence in Belleville, IL.
JoAnn worked in retail sales for Famous Barr, Macy’s and Dillard’s. She was a member of St. Matthew Church in Belleville, IL, and spent much of her retirement supporting her church. She enjoyed reading, hanging out with family, and spending time with her friends Clara, Sly and Dennis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar P. and Leora M., nee Schneck, Mettler; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Laverne Thiems; son-in-law, Les Maue; godson, Carl Teague Jr.; and life partner, Rich Wiesen.

Memorials: Memorials may be made to the St. Matthews Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Visitation: Visitation from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at St. Matthew Church in Belleville, IL.
Services: Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at St. Matthew Church, with Rev. Robert Swickard officiating.
