Oberweis Dairy Open for Business in Edwardsville
GLEN CARBON – Oberweis has opened a new scoop and dairy shop in Glen Carbon.
Located in the Orchard Town Center, the new Oberweis Scoop Shop offers their signature super premium ice cream, “exceptional” chocolate milk and milk products, and “amazing” milkshakes, said CEO Renato DePaolis. The store celebrated its grand opening on July 21, 2026, and leaders look forward to investing in the community and sharing their products.
“It’s about family, really, more than anything else, because we create some really special moments for communities that we serve,” DePaolis said. “We like being here. It’s a great community, family-centric. That’s really the Oberweis brand.”
As part of the grand opening, the Glen Carbon Oberweis location will offer the Pretzel Party Frostbite flavor for a limited time. This vanilla Frostbite blends Snickers, pretzels, caramel and chocolate sauce. All of their other favorite flavors are available, as well as a few limited edition flavors and community-based flavors.
Oberweis offers homemade waffle cones and waffle bowls, made on the spot at their location and perfect for their “super creamy ice cream.” Their “iconic” glass-bottled milk is available for sale at the store, or you can enjoy hand-dipped milkshakes, specialty sundaes, root beer floats and other treats.
DePaolis noted that the Oberweis community enjoys their work, and they’re eager to expand to Southern Illinois under the Hoffmann Family of Companies group. For him, the job is a lot of fun, and he’s proud to be a part of the Oberweis family.
“If you can’t have fun at work at an ice cream company, then I don’t know what you’re doing,” he joked. “It’s sweet every day. We have ice cream for breakfast a lot. There’s never a reason not to have a sweet treat.”
He also emphasized that Oberweis plans to invest in the community. The business regularly sponsors local sports teams and hosts seasonal fundraisers. They will bring this dedication to their newest community in Glen Carbon.
“We’re very excited to be investing again and bringing a new store to the community,” DePaolis said. “We’re really grateful for the partnership with the community.”
As the Oberweis Scoop Shop begins its newest chapter, DePaolis hopes many people come out to enjoy their products. He believes in the Oberweis mission, and he is eager to join the community as a great asset to Glen Carbon and Orchard Town Center.
“We’d love to have you in,” he added. “It’s a family place. It’s run by a family. It’s been family-founded and family-operated for nearly 100 years. That’s what we’re celebrating right now. We’re really excited about making [this] home for a long time.”
