Sarah Elaine Cobb, 48, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away peacefully with her parents by her side on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in O’Fallon, Illinois, following a sudden and aggressive battle with cancer.
Born on September 17, 1977, in St. Charles, Missouri, Sarah was the daughter of Scott Cobb and Sue (Carbaugh) Cobb.
Sarah enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved a hot cup of coffee, a good book, crossword puzzles, watching a TV series, and tending to her garden. She stayed updated on local sports, in particular baseball and soccer, and was also an animal lover. Sarah found great joy in caring for her own pets or any animal in need.
She had a generous heart and was ready to lend a hand where she could. She would help fix a car, be a caregiver for friends or family, and assist neighbors with any tasks they might have.
Sarah’s most cherished memories were made spending time with family, especially her daughter, Savannah, and enjoying vacations near the ocean.
She is survived by her parents, Scott Cobb of Granite City, Illinois, and Sue (Carbaugh) Cobb of O’Fallon, Missouri; her daughter, Savannah (Josh) Hardesty of Fort Knox, Kentucky; and 2 grandchildren, Lennox and another baby girl due to arrive December 2026. She also leaves behind her brother, Eric Cobb of Granite City, Illinois, along with loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.
As a compassionate and giving person, Sarah’s final act of kindness was to give
anything she could once she was at rest. She was able to share the gift of sight through cornea donation.
In accordance with her wishes, no formal funeral services will be held. A private family gathering will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sarah’s honor to a charity of your choice or to the Granite City Park District.
