Edwardsville Police Charge Two Sex Offenders With Registration Offenses

Jared W. ParkerEDWARDSVILLE – Sex offenders from Edwardsville and Utah were charged separately in Madison County with failing to register, with one in custody and the other released pending trial.

Jared W. Parker, 44, of the 3000 block of Ogden Avenue in Ogden, Utah, was charged in Madison County court on July 20, 2026 with sex offender registration/false information, unlawful failure to register as a sex offender (both Class 3 felonies), and obstructing identification (a Class A misdemeanor).

Parker allegedly failed to register as a sex offender by knowingly giving a false name to an officer of the Edwardsville Police Department on July 17, 2026.

According to the state’s petition to deny Parker’s pretrial release from custody in this case, Parker has been in Madison County since about July 3, 2026 and has since failed to register as a sex offender. He reportedly gave police a false name “to avoid the discovery of his registration status,” as his failure to notify Utah authorities that he left the state makes him non-compliant as a sex offender in Utah.

“He stated he is transient and hitchhiked here from Utah. He states he plans to continue to Florida,” the petition states, adding Parker’s only tie to Madison County is a family member who has “expressed minimal to no interest in further involvement with him.”

As of this writing, Parker’s name does not appear listed in the Illinois State Police Sex Offender Registry. His name does appear in a similar registry managed by the Utah Department of Public Safety, with a most recently listed address in Ogden, Utah. A description of his prior offenses in Utah states he was convicted in 2021 of unlawful sexual conduct with a 16 or 17-year-old victim, a third degree felony offense.

Parker is currently being held in custody at the Madison County Jail.

Edwardsville Police charged another sex offender with registration failure in a separate case from July 17, 2026.

Christopher E. Tyler, 39, of the 6300 block of Fairfield Road in Edwardsville, was charged with a Class 3 felony count of unlawful failure to register as a sex offender.

Tyler, described in charging documents as a child sex offender, reportedly failed to register in accordance with the Sex Offender Registration Act on June 10, 2026 after he “failed to disclose internet accounts to law enforcement.”

Tyler’s name also does not appear listed in the Illinois State Police Sex Offender Registry as of this writing. He was ordered released from custody pending trial in this case.

Both cases against Parker and Tyler were presented to prosecutors by the Edwardsville Police Department.

All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
