
David Charles Renner, 68, of Belleville, IL, born May 24, 1958, in Belleville, IL, died peacefully surrounded by his family at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital on Sunday, August 9, 2026.
David graduated from SIU Carbondale where he obtained his Mortuary Science degree. He went on to become a 3rd generation owner at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, where he served his community for over 40 years.
David enjoyed many hobbies, but his favorite was his love for flying. Over the years, he owned many different planes, but notoriously flew his SNB1 Navy Scout Bomber to Oshkosh and in air shows with his friends. He took many family trips in his planes. He had a love for animals and especially his pets. He was lifelong member at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Freeburg, IL. He was a deputy coroner for St. Clair County.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David Renner and Anne Renner, nee Slade.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Brenda Renner, nee Smith, whom he married on October 4, 1986; his son, David Paul Renner (Ashton); his beloved granddaughter, Vera, who he adored; four sisters, Angela R. Kristensen (Ted), Elizabeth M. (Richard) Jung, Josephine A. (Stan) Schwab, and Sherry L. Coleman; his mother-in-law, Joyce Smith; a brother-in-law, Tom (Ruth) Smith; many nieces and nephews, Nathan Jung, Seth (Jessie) Jung, Bonnie (Kurt) Rubicz, David (JoAnn) Coleman, Thomas Coleman, Anne Marie (Adam) Dickens, David (Lindsey) Schwab, and Daniel (Ally) Schwab; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends

Visitation: Friends may visit the family from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, Friday August 14, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Freeburg, IL.
Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon, Friday August 14, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Freeburg, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.
Burial will be at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Freeburg, IL.
