EDWARDSVILLE – Bryar Ellinger, an incoming junior outfielder for the Edwardsville High softball team, had a great start and continued the effort through 2026 for the Tigers.
Bryar hit for a .434 batting average for the Tigers with 36 hits and 12 RBI. The future looks very bright for Ellinger.
One key game for Ellinger was when she had three hits in the Tigers’ win over Gillespie during the 2026 season.
“I felt really good after the game,” Ellinger said. “I think this game, especially, just brought back a lot of confidence. It was definitely teamwork, getting the win over Gillespie. We had good, solid defense, and hits, and everything was open.”
Ellinger said she has also focused on improving defensively in the outfield.
“I have been working really hard in the outfield,” Ellinger said, “because I struggled last year in the outfield, but I feel like this year, I’ve been putting in a lot of work to get it done, and I feel like it’s showing now.”
Ellinger said her future goal with her team will be to make it to state.
“Overall, I’m so grateful for this team. It’s just a great team to be with, and everyone works so hard every single day, at practice and games.”
