
Cyril A. Neff, 94, of Swansea, IL, born November 12, 1931, in Smithton, IL, died Sunday, August 23, 2026, at St. Paul’s Senior Community, Belleville, IL, surrounded by family.
Cyril retired from Carolina Freight after 36 years as a truck driver. After retirement, he worked for First Student and drove school buses. He was a longtime member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, where he served as Eucharistic minister. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society at church. Cyril was a member of Teamsters Local 600 and a 50-year member of American Legion Post 937. He served in the United States Army as an artillery gunner. He loved to dance and was an avid gardener and hunter. Cyril, along with his wife Janet, were world travelers who visited 30 different countries over the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter E. and Cecilia, nee Brielmaier, Neff; three brothers, Herbert (Helen) Neff, Lorraine “Beanie” (Helen) Neff, and Anthony (Arlene) Neff; and a sister, Rita (Pete) Zoeller.
Cyril is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Janet, nee Reeb, Neff, whom he married June 17, 1958; three children, Alan (Angela) Neff, Carol (Steve) Lee, and Debra (Robert) Stack; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.
Service: A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.
Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL, at a later date.
