SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that lanes that have been closed for construction will reopen, where possible, for the Labor Day weekend to minimize travel disruption.
Non-emergency closures will be suspended from 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, to 11:59 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7.
The following lane closures will remain in place during the holiday weekend. The public can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through these areas. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and stay alert for workers and equipment. At all times, please buckle up and drive sober.
Calhoun/Greene County
- Joe Page Bridge (Illinois 16/100) over the Illinois River; lane reductions continue with traffic controlled by temporary signals.
Madison County
- Intersection of Bluff Road (Illinois 157) at Illinois 162 in Glen Carbon; closed, detour posted.
- Pierce Lane between Cook Avenue and Illinois 3 in Godfrey; closed.
St. Clair County
- I-55/70 between Exchange Avenue in East St. Louis and Black Lane near Collinsville; lane reductions continue.
- Southbound I-255 ramp to southbound I-55/70; lane reductions continue.
- Illinois 111 at I-55/70 in Fairmont City; lane reductions continue.
- Soutbound I-55/70 ramp to westbound I-70; lane reductions continue.
- I-64 between Illinois 157 and Illinois 159; lane reductions continue.
- Illinois 159 ramp over I-64; lane reductions continue.
- I-64 at Illinois 158; lane reductions continue.
Washington County
- I-64 between mileposts 47 and 51 east and west of Nashville; lane reductions continue.
