EAST ST. LOUIS – A woman was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2026, in East St. Louis after police said a male victim reported she injured him with a knife and bit him when he tried to intervene in a physical altercation inside a residence.
Officers with the East Saint Louis Police Department were dispatched Sept. 8, 2026, to the 1800 block of Missouri Avenue in reference to a reported aggravated battery. Police said the victim reported he had been assaulted by a female later identified as Bonnie S. Brewer, 43.
The victim told officers Brewer had injured his left hand with a knife before fleeing the residence on foot, police said. Officers canvassed the area and located Brewer in the 1800 block of Cleveland Avenue in East St. Louis. She was apprehended without further incident and taken to the police station for booking.
East St. Louis Police said the victim told officers Brewer and her boyfriend had been involved in a physical altercation inside the residence. When the victim attempted to intervene and stop the fight, Brewer allegedly became angry and armed herself with a knife. The victim stated he grabbed Brewer’s hand in an attempt to prevent her from stabbing him, and during the struggle, Brewer allegedly bit him on his upper right arm before fleeing.
The victim sustained a bite injury to his upper right arm, as well as lacerations to his left hand and finger, police said. He was transported by EMS to Barnes-Jewish Hospital for medical treatment.
Brewer was arrested and, after further investigation, charged with aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony.
All persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
