Shanna Burns-Humphreys

Shanna Lee “Nana” Burns-Humphreys, 23, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away at 5:23 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026, along with her precious children, Sebastian and Bailey.

She was born September 5, 2003, in Centreville, Illinois, a daughter of Luther Lee Burns and Sherrie L. Montgomery-Burns of Collinsville, Illinois. She was engaged to her loving fiancé, Cody Alan Humphreys, whom she was to marry on April 17, 2027. Together, they shared nearly six years filled with wonderful memories, laughter, love, and many special times.

Shanna was a manager at Jimmy John’s and had previously worked at Wendy’s, both in Collinsville. Above all, she was a loving and devoted mother whose life revolved around her babies. Sebastian and Bailey were the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Shanna was a talented artist who especially enjoyed painting and expressing her creativity. Though young in years, she was truly an old soul with a caring heart and a special way about her that will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her fiancé and parents, she is survived by her grandfather, Luther Burns of Collinsville; four siblings, Vanessa Totty of Collinsville, Vincent and Samantha Herr of Cedar Hill, Missouri, Renee Burns of Troy, and Dakota Elam of Collinsville; her bonus parents, Elizabeth and Nykky Schildman of Pontoon Beach and Christopher Humphreys of Pontoon Beach; bonus grandparents, Marilyn and Frank Humphreys of Granite City; bonus siblings, Joshua-Lee Jager of Pontoon Beach, Megan Humphreys of Pontoon Beach, Collin Humphreys of Granite City, Laney Powers of Granite City, Lyric Brown of Pontoon Beach and Gavin Newman of Crestview, Florida; many nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; cousins; other extended family members; and many dear friends.

In addition to her beloved children, Sebastian David Bartlett and Bailey Virginia Humphreys, she was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Sharon Gallagher, Sue Drummond, and Charlotte Burns; her bonus grandparents, Cynthia and David Schildman; and her best friend, Kya Holt-Biggs.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be held at Unity Baptist Church, 2500 St. Clair Avenue in Granite City, Illinois, on Monday, September 21, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Reverend Ron Habermehl and Reverend Jarad Corzine will officiate.

In lieu of floral tributes, memorials may be made to the St. Louis Zoo Friends Tribute Fund, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, or to the family.
