Peggy L. “Peg” Winter, age 67 of Pocahontas, IL, died Saturday, July 13, 2019, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Highland, IL.
She was born on January 14, 1952, in Highland, IL, the daughter of Richard and Shirley (nee Schmidt) Federer.
On July 13, 1974, she married Harold J. “Hal” Winter and he survives in Pocahontas, IL .
She was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ. She was also a member of Leader of Highland Highlighters 4-H Club; Local Leader of La Leche League; Past President of District V IL Home Economics Association; former menber of Sierra Club and Arbor Day Foundation.
Peg was born at Highland, Il and grew up in Collinsville. She moved to Highland in 1964 and graduated Highland High School in 1970. She graduated SIUC in 1973 with Bachelors in Home Economics Education. She taught at Highland High School and St. Paul School. In 1982 at age 30 she was diognosed with Multiple Sclerosis and fought it every day with a passion for life. She and her family enjoyed campind and she liked to cook. Peg was a real “Tree Hugger” for her concern about the enviroment.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, July 19, 2019, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL.
Memorial funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL, with Rev. Nancy Gamache officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to La Leche League or Multiple Sclerosis Society.
