Derek Shawn Penrod, 44, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away at his home on Monday, September 30, 2024.
He was born March 31, 1980, in Granite City, Illinois, a son of Gary Ray and Donna Rae (Sanders) Penrod of Granite City.
He was a laborer with the Madison County Highway Department for 11 years. He loved watching football and baseball and was always a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Rams. He cherished his buddy, Jake and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son, Tyler Penrod of Granite City; a daughter, Jaylee Penrod of Granite City; a brother and sister-in-law, Ryan and Bethany Penrod of Maryland Heights, Missouri; several aunts and uncles; cousins; other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Dolores Sanders and Earl and Wilma Penrod.
In celebration of his life, a memorial visitation will be held at Central Christian Church, 2020 Johnson Road in Granite City on Friday, October 4, 2024, from 10 a.m. until time of a memorial service at 12 p.m. with Pastor Derrell Brame officiating.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
