David Ray Wilson, 85, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away peacefully at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois, on Sunday, October 20, 2024. Born on April 26, 1939, in Granite City, he was the cherished son of the late Basil and Etta (Reading) Wilson.
On December 17, 1960, David married his soulmate, Joyce (Yankey) Wilson, in Granite City. Their love story spanned over 63 beautiful years, filled with joy and unwavering devotion.
David was a faithful member of Glenview Chapel Assembly of God in Granite City. He was passionate about golf, enjoyed playing softball, and loved fishing. A true baseball enthusiast, he was a loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Known for his friendly nature, David never met a stranger and always greeted everyone with a smile. His sense of humor was infectious, often brightening the days of those around him with jokes, pranks, and laughter. David was a beloved husband, a loving father, and a doting grandfather. His legacy of dedication, humor, and love will forever be cherished by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Wanda Baumberger, Edna Gean, Yvonne Adelsberger, Flora Graham, Charles Wilson, and Richard Wilson, Sr.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Joyce (Yankey) Wilson, of Granite City, Illinois; his children, Kenneth “Kenny” (Paula) Wilson, Marcia Wilson, and Donald “Donnie” (Rev. Stacey) Wilson, all of Granite City, Illinois; his grandchildren, Brock (Brittany) Wilson, Ty Wilson, Noah Wilson, and Colby Wilson; his sisters, Evelyn Holmes and Patricia Parks; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral: Services will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Glenview Chapel Assembly of God Church in Granite City, Illinois with Pastor Timothy O’Keefe and Pastor Stacey Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, in Glen Carbon, Illinois.
