Beloved Educator and Principal Dies In Horseshoe Lake Road I-255 Accident

BELLEVILLE – Dr. Amanda “Mandy” Bagley, the principal of Belle Valley School in Belleville, Illinois, died after a two-vehicle crash on April 21, 2026, in Madison County, according to an Illinois State Police preliminary report.

Bagley, described as a beloved educator and principal, was involved in a collision at about 6:14 p.m. April 21, 2026, at Horseshoe Lake Road and the Interstate 255 southbound on-ramp in Collinsville. The community is mourning her sudden loss.

This information was released from the Illinois State Police report on the accident:

Illinois State Police Troop 8 said it received a call for a two-unit fatal crash on the evening of April 21, 2026. ISP investigators said Unit 1 was traveling eastbound on Horseshoe Lake Road and Unit 2 was traveling westbound. Police said Unit 1 was attempting to turn left onto the southbound I-255 ramp when it was struck by Unit 2.

The driver of Unit 1 was transported to a local hospital with injuries and later died, police said. The driver of Unit 2 was also taken to a local hospital with injuries.

Police said lanes were closed because of the crash, and the roadway reopened at about 11:10 p.m. on April 21, 2026.

Illinois State Police Troop 8 said no further information was available.
