WELLSTON, MO. — St. Louis County Police Department detectives are investigating a homicide after a shooting Tuesday morning, Aug. 18, 2026, in the 6300 block of Ridge Avenue in Wellston left one adult male dead and three other adult males injured, authorities said.
Officers from the North County Police Cooperative responded at approximately 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, to a call for a shooting. When they arrived, officers found four adult males suffering from apparent gunshot injuries. One victim died at the scene, and three others were transported to area hospitals with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Preliminary investigation indicates an altercation occurred between the individuals before the shooting, police said. No suspects are currently in custody.
The North County Police Cooperative requested that detectives with the St. Louis County Police Department Bureau of Crimes Against Persons lead the homicide investigation.
Police said the investigation is active and preliminary details may change. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
