Betty Bernice Boushard, of Granite City, passed away on August 19, 2026, at the age of 85. She was born on March 7, 1941, in Tilden, Illinois, to William and Faye Rody.
On August 13, 1959, Bernice married the love of her life, John C. Boushard, in Chester, Illinois. Together, they built a loving family and shared a life filled with countless memories. Bernice was a devoted homemaker who found her greatest joy in caring for her family. She cherished every opportunity to gather with those she loved and took great pride in watching her family grow through the generations.
Bernice’s greatest passions were her family, cooking, and, of course, Elvis Presley. She was also a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Maryville, where her faith was an important part of her life. She will be remembered for the love she poured into her home, the many meals she lovingly prepared, and the special place she held in her heart for each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, William and Faye Rody; her beloved husband, John; and her daughter, Tami Lynn Brawley.
Bernice’s memory will be lovingly cherished by her children, Linda (Bill) Bush of Collinsville, Jane (John) Hudson of Wildwood Missouri, John (Tara) Boushard Jr. of Granite City, and Jeff (Melissa) Boushard of Maryville; her son-in-law, Ronald Brawley of Collinsville; her grandchildren, Christopher (Marcella) Brawley, Jessica (Jonathan) Dye, Abigale (Patrick) Reilly, Emily (Tony) Jennings, Lynsey (Jake) Roustio, Connor Bush, Chloe Bush, Chase (Kayla) Boushard, Ella Boushard, Elizabeth (Chase) Johnston, and Aaron (Kaiya) Dawes; 11 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Wanda Rody; and many extended family members and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 24, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with funeral services beginning at 12:00 p.m. immediately following visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in Bernice’s honor.
