ALTON – The Cape Catfish came out hitting tonight at Lloyd Hopkins Field in Alton and beat the Alton River Dragons 15 to 5.
The Catfish scored one in the top of the third when Justin Carinci hit a triple and Chris Hall scored. The River Dragons answered in the bottom of the third when RJ LaRocco hit a home run to left field to make it 1-1.
In the top of the fourth the bats came alive for the Catfish, They scored seven in that inning. Hayden Nazarenus homered to left field scoring Kaden Jeffries. Then Landon Godsey flied out to center field and Kevin McCarthy scored on a sacrifice fly.
Justin Carinci reached on a fielder’s choice, RBI; Jeff Clarke was thrown out at second and Chris Hall advanced to third; Curry Sutherland was able to score making it 5-1. Brody Chrisman then singled to center field while Carinci scored making it to 6-1. McCarthy was walked and Nazarenus advanced to second; Jeffries advanced to third and Chrisman scored. closing out the top of the fourth with a 7-1 game.
In the bottom of the fourth LaRocco was hit by pitch for the River Dragons Bryer Arview advanced to second A.J Pabst advanced to third and Erik Broekemeier scored making it 7-2.
In the top of the fifth Chrisman hit a grand slam to right center scoring 4 runs making it 11-2.
In the bottom of the fifth the River Dragons was able to get the bats going a little. Broekemeier doubled to center field, advancing Decker to third and Murillo scored. Pabst grounded out to third but Decker was able to score making it 11-4.
In the top of the sixth Carinci reached first on an error Hall advanced to third scoring two run, making it 13-4. Jeffries was then hit by pitch Chrisman advanced to second; Carinci advanced to third; C. Hall scored making it 15 to 4.
In the bottom of the sixth inning Murillo singled to shortstop Sessing advanced to second LaRocco scored. making the final score 15-5
Alex Renfrow took the loss for the River Dragons. He gave up 7 runs on 9 hits. Breven Yarbro took the win for the Catfish giving up 2 hit on 2 runs.
The Alton River Dragon are now 4-2 on the season and the Cape Catfish stay undefeated with a 6-0 record. The River Dragons will be at home tomorrow night against the Clinton Lumberkings at 6:35 p.m.
