East Alton And Area Firefighters Battle Fire At Club Fitness Saturday Night

EAST ALTON- A fire broke out at the Club Fitness in East Alton Saturday night.

As firefighters were finishing up with the shooting scene next door, they were called for smoke inside the Club Fitness at the Eastgate Shopping Center. Firefighters could see flames showing from the backside of the building.

East Alton Fire Department requested a Commercial Box-Alarm, Wood River, Rosewood Heights, Roxana and Alton Fire Departments responded to the scene. Bethalto moved up to East Alton station and Cottage Hills moved to Bethalto.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control quickly without any injuries.

Club Fitness released a statement that read ” Attention Members: Our East Alton location is temporarily closed until further notice. A small fire occurred within the plaza. We apologize for any inconvenience, additional updates to follow.”
