CM Loses 51 To 24 To A Tough Mundelein Team And Will Play Morton For Third Place.

NORMAL – The Mundelein Carmel Corsairs held the CM Lady Eagles to 24 points which is the lowest amount of points CM has scored this year. The Lady Corsairs will advance to the Class 3A State Championship game on Saturday. The Lady Eagles will play Friday night for third place against Morton. The final was 51 to 24.

In the first quarter, CM jumped out to an 8 to 7 lead over the Corsairs on a Durbin jumper with 4:09 left in the first quarter. That was the only time CM led in the game. The Corsairs lead 11 to 8 after the first quarter.

The Lady Eagles only was able to score four points in the second quarter. Meredith Brueckner was the only Eagle to score in the second quarter, The Eagles went into the locker room down 24 to 12.

The Eagles had trouble shooting in the third quarter they were held to two points. Emily Williams had a second chance layup to score the only points in the quarter. The Corsairs pushed the lead to 38 to 14 going into the final quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Wallace had a three, Durbin had a jumper and Combs had a basket to close out the game.

The Corsairs came into the match with four girls over six feet. Jordan Wood 6’5, Grace Sullivan 6’4, Mia Gillis 6’1, and Abbey Sullivan 6’0.

CM’s tallest girl is Emily Williams at 5’9 so heights were a big diffent.

Durbin was held to 7 points, while Wallace led the team with 8 points. The Corsairs were led by Grace Sullivan with 18 points and Jordan Wood with 10 points.
