Civic Memorial Boys Soccer Team Advances To The Sectional Finals On Friday

BETHALTO – The Civic Memorial boys soccer team knew coming into this Class 3A Sectional that it was going to be tough. All four teams in the Civic Memorial Sectional are from the same conference the Mississippi Valley Conference and all four has played each other throughout the year.

The Eagles first test was against the Indians from Mascoutah on Wednesday. The Eagles won that game behind the scoring of captain Bryce Davis who scored all three goals for the Eagles.

In the first half of the game Davis was able to get a penalty kick and was able to put the ball on the opposite side of the goal from where the goalkeeper was making it a 1-0 game.

With 18:46 left in the first half Davis was able to get around a defender and put the ball in the back of the net for his second goal of the night. Making it 2-0 in the game. The score would stay 2-0 for the rest of the first half.

” We talked at halftime and 2-0 at half is the most dangerous score in sports. We needed to get the next one and it should break their backs and Bryce did”. CM coach Derek Jarman said

Davis has scored 61 goals this season and that was his 13th hat trick of the season.

In the second half of the match, it was Davis again this time with 28:33 he was able to get free and put it by the goalie for his hat trick. Mascoutah was able to get their lone goal of the game with 14:41 left in the game when Roman Collins was able to score.

Civic Memorial will move on to the sectional finals match against Triad who beat Waterloo 4-1 in the second game of the night that game will be played at 5:30 on Friday.
