GLEN CARBON – Father McGivney Lady Griffins battled the Alton Lady Explores Wednesday night in Glen Carbon to determine who would win the Gateway Conference. Lady Griffins was able to win with a 52 to 33 win.
In the first quarter the Lady Griffins jumped out to a 11 to 8 lead over the Lady Explorers. In the second quarter the Lady Griffins went into the locker room with a with a 22 to 15 lead.
In the third quarter the Lady Explores came out of the locker room on fire and started chipping away at the lead till the Lady Griffins was able to recover and extend the lead to 40 to 24 lead.
The Lady Griffins outscored the Lady Explores 12 to 9 to finish the game off.
The Lady Griffins was led in scoring by Mary Harkins with 17 points and Sami Oller with 14 points. The Lady Explores were led by Hayley Rodgers and Allie Weiner both with 11 points.
