Granite City Battle Large Fire Early Tuesday Morning

GRANITE CITY – Firefighters responded to a structure fire that had spread to multiple buildings at around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 2500 block of Washington Ave in Granite City.

Klassy Klips which was a dog grooming business along with an upholstery shop was destroyed due to the fire. The fire threatened an apartment building but firefighters were able to protect it.

The only injury that was reported was a firefighter who had heat exhaustion. Firefighters battled the fire for hours.

It is unknown at this time how the fire started.
