Area Firefighters Battle Apartment Fire Monday Morning
ALTON – Godfrey Fire Department responded to the Woodbury Manor Apartments for a structure fire Monday morning.
The fire appeared to start around the balcony area of the apartment complex. A commercial box alarm was requested which Fosterburg, Alton, and Wood River responded. Firefighters were able to knock down the fire and Wood River was canceled.
No injuries were reported. As Godfrey firefighters were leaving the fire they noticed a puff of smoke coming from a vent in the roof. Godfrey requested Alton to bring their ladder truck to the scene. A hole was cut in the roof and the fire was extinguished.
It is unknown at this time how the fire was started.
