Richard Leto Munie, 55, of Belleville, IL, born February 14, 1970, in Belleville, IL, passed away peacefully, Monday, January 12, 2026, at his residence.
Richard worked as an application engineer with Centene. Prior to that, he was a high school math teacher at Viburnum Senior High School, Cahokia High School, and Sandoval Junior/Senior High School. Richard was a lover of life. He was an adventurer, enjoying canoeing, exploring, and traveling the country in his van. Richard had a passion for music; he loved attending music festivals, playing the banjo, and was rarely seen without his flute.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Donald D. Munie.
Surviving are his mother, Lillian R., nee Streif, Munie; three brothers and a sister, Steven (Sherrie) Munie, Joy Schreiber, Donald Dean II (Mindee) Munie, and Wayne Munie (Telisha); his special friend, Carrie Stafford; nine nieces and nephews, Libby, Katie, Glen, Elizabeth, Sara, Alex, Olivia, Marisa, and Carlos; two great-nieces and a great- nephew, Avita, John, and Lillian; and many dear friends.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2026, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, January 19, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.
Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 19, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.
According to Richard’s wishes, cremation services will follow.
