
ST. LOUIS COUNTY – The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has issued 12 felony charges against James Mahoney, 66, of St. Louis, alleging he repeatedly sexually assaulted a victim over a period spanning 2002 to 2011, authorities said.
The charges were issued on Thursday, March 26, according to a statement dated April 2, 2026, from St. Louis County.
Mahoney’s charges are as follows:
- Five (5) counts – Statutory Sodomy 1st Degree – Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a Person Less than 12 years old
- Two (2) counts – Statutory Sodomy 1st Degree – Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a Person Less than 14 years old
- Two (2) counts – Statutory Rape 1st Degree – Sexual Intercourse with a Person less than 12 years old
- One (1) count – Statutory Rape 1st Degree – Sexual Intercourse with a Person less than 14 years old
- Assault 1st Degree or Attempt
- Assault 3rd Degree
Mahoney is being held on a $750,000, cash-only bond with no 10% option, the statement said.
In a summary of probable cause, authorities said a confidential victim reported that Mahoney “repeatedly sexually assaulted her from when she was five years of age until she was fourteen years of age.”
Detectives from the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons are leading the investigation, authorities said.
