
WOOD RIVER/GRANITE CITY – Local authorities have charged two men from Wood River and Granite City in separate felony cases of domestic battery.
William K. Kampmann III, 37, of Wood River, was charged on Jan. 23, 2026 with one count each of aggravated domestic battery (a Class 2 felony) and domestic battery (a Class 4 felony).
On Jan. 21, 2026, Kampmann allegedly committed an act of domestic battery against a household or family member, knowingly causing the victim bodily harm. Charging documents note he had previously been convicted of unlawfully violating of an Order of Protection in 2025, also in Madison County.
The latest case against Kampmann was presented by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, and he was ordered remanded to jail for his initial court appearance in this case.
A separate domestic battery case was filed against a Granite City man on Jan. 22, 2026.
42-year-old Rodney A. Armbruster faces a Class 2 felony count of aggravated domestic battery. Armbruster is also accused of committing an act of domestic battery against a household or family member on Jan. 6, 2026.
The Granite City Police Department presented the case against Armbruster, who was also remanded to jail for his initial appearance in court.
All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
