James “Jim” F. Wickman, 71, of Belleville, IL, born June 12, 1954, in Granite City, IL, died Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at his residence.
He was a 1972 graduate from Belleville Township High School West and Ranken Technical, St. Louis, MO. He worked as a mechanic for Auffenberg Hyundai in O’Fallon, IL, until his retirement. He enjoyed playing golf with his best friends Larry Closterman and Pat Fahey and spending time with family and friends.
Jim was a “One of a kind” man who loved Jesus. He followed in His ways by always helping others at the drop of a hat but wouldn’t ask for help. Anyone who knew Jim, knew that his quick humor was his other memorable trait. You would always get a joke or some quick funny response that would last with you for a lifetime. He loved to make people laugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Anne, nee Toth, Wickman; his brother Thomas Wickman; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Gin, nee Scully, Hanley; his sister-in-law, Rose Hanley; four brothers-in-law, Francis Walsh, Bob Hanley, Tim Hanley, Dave Keller; and two nephews, Grant Walsh and Todd Hanley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Peggy, nee Hanley, Wickman; his sister, Carole Walsh; three sisters-in-law, Patty (Mike) Williams, Jane Keller, and Maryann (Bob) Weakley; a brother-in-law, Dan (Huma) Hanley; a special nephew, Adam Berg (Raquel Smith); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2026, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.
Funeral: A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2026, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.
Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Edwardsville, IL, at a later date.
