STAUNTON 10, CARLINVILLE 2: Staunton scored twice in the second and fourth innings, four runs in the third, and single runs in the sixth and seventh to take a South Central Conference win over Carlinville at Loveless Park.

Blake Killam had two hits and an RBI for the Cavaliers, while Gus Gibbs had the only strikeout on the mound.

The Bulldogs are now 7-5, while Carlinville goes to 2-4.

JACKSONVILLE ROUTT CATHOLIC 19, PIASA SOUTHWESTERN 6: Routt scored six runs in the fifth and nine runs in the seventh to take the win at Southwestern.

Colton Huber had two hits and two RBIs for the Piasa Birds, while John Kunz had the only strikeout while on the mound.

The Rockets are now 7-4, while Southwestern falls to 2-7.

JERSEY 9, LITCHFIELD 4: Jersey scored once in the first, five times in the second, and three more times in the third to take a home win over Litchfield.

Abe Kribs had two hits and three RBIs for the Panthers, while Hayden LaPlant struck out three while on the mound.

Jersey is now 8-2, while the Purple Panthers slip to 6-5.

In other games played on Wednesday, Highland won over Trenton Wesclin 10-0, Waterloo Gibault Catholic nipped Belleville Althoff Catholic 11-10, Salem got past Belleville East 9-7, Waterloo won over Valmeyer 16-0, and Mascoutah defeated the St. Louis Home School Patriots 10-0. and Triad won over Centralia 11-7.

BOYS LACROSSE

In the only game involving a Metro-East team on Wednesday, Westminster Christian of west St. Louis County got past O’Fallon 13-12.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

In Wednesday’s only match, Belleville West slipped past Granite City 23-25, 25-16, 25-15.

SOFTBALL

JERSEY 10, LITCHFIELD 0 (VARSITY)

JERSEY 10, LITCHFIELD 3 (JV)

The Jersey Community High School junior/varsity softball hosted Litchfield and came away with wins at both levels.

The JV Panthers earned a 10-3 victory, with Grace Fessler picking up the win. CC Alexander, Charlotte Beasley, and Lucy Wilson each collected doubles, while Jena Pegram added a double and a triple.

The varsity Panthers followed with a dominant 10-0 win. Paxton Weirich went 2-for-2 with a home run and a double, and Holly Brainerd went 3-for-3 with a double.

AUBURN 3, CARLINVILLE 2: Carlinville took a 2-1 lead after three innings, but Auburn scored twice in the fifth, then held on to win at Loveless Park.

Phynley Branson had two hits and an RBI for the Cavaliers, while Hallie Gibson went all the way in the circle, striking out 17.

The Trojans are now 2-9, while Carlinville goes to 3-5.

PIASA SOUTHWESTERN 8, HIGHLAND 7: Southwestern held a 7-4 lead after four innings, but Highland scored three runs in the fifth to tie the game. The Piasa Birds scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to walk off as a winner.

Gabby Poole had two hits for Southwestern, while Hannah Mary had a hit and four RBIs. Mary also fanned seven while in the circle

The Piasa Birds are now 5-5, while the Bulldogs slip to 3-7.

EAST ALTON-WOOD RIVER 11, EAST ST. LOUIS 9: EAWR scored five runs in the first, then two runs each in the second, fifth, and sixth to help hold off East St. Louis at Leroy Emerick Field.

Libby Fry and Madelyn Stone both had two hits each for the Oilers, while Fry struck out 10 while in the circle. The Flyers were led by Iyanna Hogan, who had two hits and an RBI, while Khayla Walker struck out six in the circle.

EAWR goes to 3-6, while East Side is now 0-8.

O’FALLON 5, CIVIC MEMORIAL 2: O’Fallon scored twice in the first and sixth, while adding on a single run in the fourth to take the win over visiting CM.

Allison Friedel led the Eagles with two hits and an RBI, while Olivia Monroe went all the way inside the circle, striking out nine.

The Panthers are now 8-3, while CM falls to 6-4.

ALTON 14, FATHER MCGIVNEY CATHOLIC 3: Alton bounced back nicely from a one-hit loss the day before at Edwardsville to score six times in the fifth to blow the game open, then added seven more in the seventh to gain the win at Griffins Park.

Gabby Terrell had three hits and an RBI for the Redbirds, while Lilly Henkhaus came up with two hits and three RBIs, and Sydney Moore went all the way in the circle, striking out four. Avery Grenzebach had a hit and an RBI for the Griffins, while Bella Bridges struck out one inside the circle.

Alton is now 4-9, while McGivney goes to 4-7.

MASCOUTAH 14, GRANITE CITY 1: Mascoutah scored five times in both the first and second innings, three times in the third, and once in the fourth to open up their new ballpark at Veterans Park.

Makayla Adams had a hit and the only RBI for the Warriors, while Chloe Randolph went all the way in the circle, but couldn’t strike anyone out.

Mascoutah is now 9-2, while Granite is now 1-11.

In other games played on Wednesday, Belleville West got past Waterloo 4-3, Dupo defeated Chester 11-7, Waterloo Gibault Catholic won over Valmeyer 15-4, and Pinckneyville won over Red Bud 6-1.

In a game played on Tuesday in South St. Louis County, Oakville defeated Edwardsville 10-8.

GRANITE CITY 3, BREESE MATER DEI CATHOLIC 0: Lucy Klumpp, Aubrey Briggs, and Maggie Hickam all scored in Granite City’s win at Mater Dei.

Katie Gartner didn’t have to make a save in goal to record the clean sheet for the Warriors, who are now 3-5-1, while the Knights slip to 2-3-1.

CIVIC MEMORIAL 3, JERSEY 0: Abby Bruckener, Delaney Griffin, and Landree Wallace all scored for CM in their win at Jersey.

Bryleigh Marshall had one save in goal to record the clean sheet for the Eagles, who go to 4-4-0, while the Panthers are now 1-3-0.

BELLEVILLE WEST 15, EAST ST. LOUIS 0: West scored eight runs in the first, five in the second, and two more in the third to take the win over East St. Louis at the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center.

Addison Colbert had two hits and three RBIs for the Maroons, while Elaina Jenkins struck out five in a three-inning no-hitter. Khayla Walker fanned one for the Flyers while in the circle.

West is now 2-8, while East Side goes to 0-7.

TRIAD 6, BREESE MATER DEI CATHOLIC 1: Triad scored a single run in the first, third, and sixth innings, along with three in the second, in going on to win at Mater Dei.

Kenzie Becker had two hits and an RBI for Triad, while Abby Harper went all the way in the circle, striking out nine.

Triad is now 10-4, while Mater Dei goes to 1-5.

ROXANA 9, EAST ALTON-WOOD RIVER 2: Roxana scored twice in the first, fourth, and fifth innings, adding on three runs in the seventh for good measure in their win over EAWR at Leroy Emrick Field.

Libby Fry had a hit and both of the Oilers’ RBIs, while Ellie Beechum went all the way in the circle, fanning nine.

The Shells are now 9-2, while EAWR goes to 2-6.

O’FALLON 3, COLLINSVILLE 0: O’Fallon scored once in the first, then added on two more in the sixth to take the win at the Collinsville Sports Complex.

Aubrey Bordoni, Ava Demetrulias, and Faith Fairchild had the three hits for the Kahoks, while Bordoni went all the way in the circle, striking out 11.

O’Fallon is now 7-3, while Collinsville goes to 2-10.

JERSEY ATHLETICS ROUNDUP

TUESDAY

JCHS Tennis traveled to Highland and fell just short in a tight match, 4-5. Singles victories came from Paul Slusser, Lincoln Diamond, and Jaron Decker, while the doubles team of Lincoln Diamond and Jaron Decker also secured a win.

JCHS JV Softball hosted Freeburg and earned an 11-1 victory in five innings. Macy Kallal, Marley Cazier, Holly Brainerd, and Grace Fessler each collected doubles, with Kallal also blasting a home run. In the circle, Jena Pegram secured the win, striking out 11.

JCHS JV/V Baseball hosted Hillsboro and came away with wins at both levels. The JV Panthers won 5-0, while the Varsity Panthers dominated with a 15-0 victory, highlighted by a combined no-hitter from Jude Jones and Brody Short. Offensively, the Panthers were led by Graham Vanausdoll, Abe Kribs, Brady Maxeiner, and Isaac Hackethal, who each collected two hits.

JCHS JV/V Soccer hosted the CM Eagles. The JV Panthers fell 1-4, with Sophia Bracho scoring the lone goal and Finley Lancaster recording 10 saves in goal. The Varsity Panthers also came up short, 0-3, with goalkeeper Ella Roberts tallying 13 saves.

JCMS Track and Field hosted the JCMS Invite with 13 participating schools. Congratulations to the 8th grade teams, with both the boys and girls earning 1st place finishes. The 7th grade girls placed 3rd overall, while the 7th grade boys finished 5th. Finishers for the boys included Josue Porras-Sanchez in the 7th grade 100m and long jump, Kyle Darr in the 8th grade 400m, and the 8th grade 4×100 relay team of Craigmiles, Darr, Mangara, and Porras-Sanchez. The 4×200 relay team of DeSherlia, Zenku, Crader, and Hutchens also earned first place. Second place finishes went to Kyle Darr in the 8th grade 100m, Aiden Wittman in the 7th grade 110m hurdles, Grayson Mangara in the 8th grade 110m hurdles and high jump, Robert Gresham in the 7th grade long jump, and the 8th grade SMR relay team of Craigmiles, Hutchens, Zenku, and Johnson. Third place finishers included Sullivan Hutchens in the 8th grade 200m, Carter Johnson in the 8th grade 800m and 7th grade shot put, Mason Warren in the 8th grade 1600m, Kyle Darr in the 8th grade 110m hurdles, and the 4×400 relay team of Gallup, DeSherlia, Craigmiles, and Crader. The Lady Panthers top finishers included Kadence Dobson in the 8th grade 400m, the 8th grade 4×100 relay team of Egelhoff, Jantzen, Price, and Hughes, the 7th grade SMR relay team of Hall, Warford, Fallin, and Wade, Kenzi Schulte in the 8th grade shot put, and Lyla Blackburn in the 8th grade high jump. Second place finishes went to Sophia Kirsch in the 7th grade 100m hurdles, Lana West in the 8th grade 100m hurdles, the 7th grade 4×100 relay team of Kirsch, Piper, Warford, and Fallin, the 8th grade 4×400 relay team of Price, Jantzen, Dobson, and West, the 8th grade SMR relay team of Price, Hughes, Jantzen, and Dobson, and Stella Egelhoff in the 8th grade discus. Third place finishers included Kiyah Knoche in the 8th grade 800m, the 8th grade 4×200 relay team of Williams, Blackburn, Pfleger, and West, and Mackenzie Hanlon, who placed in both the 7th grade shot put and discus.

WEDNESDAY

JCHS Tennis hosted Mascoutah and fell to the Indians, 2-7. Strong performances were turned in by Jaron Decker and Michael Roberts.
