Norma Eaves

Norma Jane Eaves, age 90, of Madison, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at LaBella of Edwardsville, with her loving family in her thoughts and heart.

She was born on May 3, 1935, in Anna, Illinois, the cherished daughter of the late Elmer Ellis Rader and Myrtle May (Brothers) Rader.

On July 8, 1952, Norma married Frank “Bunky” Eaves in her hometown of Anna, IL, beginning a devoted and loving partnership that would span nearly five decades until his passing on December 22, 2000. Their marriage was a true testament to enduring love, companionship, and faith.

Norma was a faithful and active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Granite City, where she found both spiritual strength and cherished friendships. She especially treasured her time with the church quilting circle, where her hands were rarely still and her heart was always full. Whether stitching quilts or sharing laughter with dear friends, these moments brought her great joy.

In her younger years, Norma worked at the Ben Franklin five-and-dime store in Madison and later at the Madison Public Library, where she was known for her kindness and warm presence. She had a deep love for nature—especially the beauty of cardinal birds—and was a devoted fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball.

Above all, Norma’s greatest happiness came from her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend who gave freely of her time, her care, and her unwavering love. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and kind heart will be remembered by all who were blessed to know her.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Norma was preceded in death by her son, Jeff Eaves, and his wife, Annice (Rick) Eaves and her siblings, Austin Rader, Leroy Rader, Mary Allen, and Mildred Wood.

She is survived by her loving sons, Brian (Candi) Eaves of Caseyville and Mike (Carol) Eaves of Granite City; her cherished grandchildren, Keven Eaves of Granite City and Suzie Simmons and fiancé Cooper Borders of Caseyville; along with many dear nieces, nephews, extended family members, and treasured friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Irwin Chapel in Granite City.

A celebration of Norma’s life will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Irwin Chapel, with Rev. Karla Frost officiating. She will be laid to rest during a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. at Alto Pass Cemetery in Alto Pass, Illinois, beside her beloved Bunky.

Memorial donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
