Marilyn Obal

Marilyn Y. Obal, nee Winchester, age 90, of O’Fallon, IL, born on December 11, 1935, in New Harmony, IN, died on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, O’Fallon, IL.

Marilyn was a homemaker and previously worked at Bruno’s Bakery in Collinsville, IL. She met her future husband, Joe, at a square dance. They later formed the Dandy Dancers Square Dance Club in Belleville, IL. Marilyn was a member of St. Clair Country Genealogical Society and St. Clare Catholic Church, O’Fallon, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Obal; her parents, Thomas and Priscilla, nee Cleveland, Winchester; and her siblings, Frederick “Bud” Winchester and Phyllis “Darlene” Moussette.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Laura J. Obal of Fairview Heights, IL and Douglas L. (Michelle) Obal, of Fairview Heights, IL; her grandsons, John Fortman, Josie (Julie) Penn, and Harley Penn; her great granddaughters, Annalise and Kaylee; her sister, Judy Kay Beckwith of Lebanon, MO; and her brother-in-law, Stanley (Cathy) Obal of Fairview Heights, IL.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.

Graveside Service will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at  St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery, Fairview Heights, IL.
