ROXANA 7, PIASA SOUTHWESTERN 0: Gianna Stassi had another big game for Roxana, scoring a double brace (four goals), while Maddison Dixon had a brace (two goals), and Karsyn Kamp also scored in the Shells’ win over Southwestern at Norman Lewis Field.
Sidney Ufert only had to make one save in goal, as she and Sophia Powers shared the clean sheet for Roxana, who are now 8-10-0, while the Piasa Birds go to 7-11-1.
In another game played on Wednesday, Highland won over Jersey 1-0.
GRANITE CITY 2, UNION, MO. 0: Lucy Klumpp and Charlee Schwaller scored in the second half to allow Granite City to win on the road at Union, Mo. in Franklin County.
Katie Gartner didn’t have to make a save to record the clean sheet in goal for the Warriors, who are now 7-11-2, while the Wildcats slip to 7-13-0.
SOFTBALL
GRANITE CITY 18, CAHOKIA 1: Granite City scored five runs in the first and third, along with eight in the second, to defeat Cahokia at the Nelson Hagnauer Sports Complex.
Milyn Roehr had three hits and two RBIs for the Warriors, while Chloe Randolph went all the way in the circle, striking out five.
Granite is now 5-19, while the Comanches go to 0-17.
RED BUD 7, ALTON 2: Red Bud scored twice in the first, once in the second and fourth, and three times in the fifth to win over visiting Alton.
Lilly Henkhaus had two hits and an RBI for the Redbirds, while Makenzie Rayfield fanned two inside the circle.
The Musketeers are now 26-8, while Alton is now 8-25.
LITCHFIELD 18, FATHER MCGIVNEY CATHOLIC 3: Litchfield scored 12 runs in the second and seven more in the third to win over visiting McGivney.
Nora Mensing had a hit and RBI for the Griffins, while Emma Brewster had the other hit. Alexa Jones went all the way in the circle, striking out one.
The Purple Panthers are now 5-23, while McGivney is now 10-12.
In other games played on Wednesday, Gillespie won over Staunton 11-2, Breese Mater Dei Catholic nipped Belleville West 1-0, Breese Central won over Trenton Wesclin 10-9, Nashville topped O’Fallon 4-2, Waterloo Gibault Catholic got past Steeleville 5-4, Greenville defeated Okawville 11-4, and Marissa-Coulterville won over New Athens 16-1.
