COLUMBIA — Father McGivney Catholic High School’s girls soccer team advanced to the Class 1A IHSA sectional championship Tuesday night with a 6-0 semifinal win over Freeburg in Columbia, a victory that also featured Natalie Beck’s 100th career goal.
McGivney will face Columbia in the Columbia Sectional Championship at 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2026, in Columbia.
Beck, a senior, is a Byron, Carlson, Petri & Kalb Female Athlete of the Month for the Griffins by reaching the 100-goal milestone. McGivney Catholic school officials recognized the achievement in a statement, saying, “A HUGE shoutout to Natalie Beck for scoring her 100th Career Goal! What an amazing accomplishment and an unforgettable night for Griffin soccer!”
Father McGivney’s balanced scoring of six goals against Freeburg was one each by Kinley Dettmers, a freshman; Layla Tobin, a sophomore; Sofia Rossetto, a senior; Grace Welser, a senior; Beck, and Emerson Isringhausen, a junior.
The win sends the Lady Griffins into Friday’s sectional championship matchup against Columbia.
