EDWARDSVILLE – The Collinsville Swimming Club was dominant in a Southwestern Illinois Swimming Association swimming meet recently, taking a combined 418-91 win over Sunset Hills Country Club at the Sunset Hills pool.
The Gators won the boys meet 203-22, while the girls won 215-69 as both teams continued their preparations for the SWISA championship meet, which is set for Sunday, July 19, 2026, hosted by the Montclair Swim Club at the Chuck Fruit Aquatic Center on the campus of Edwardsville High School.
In the boys events, in the eight-and-under age group, the Gators’ Keller Janssen won the 50-yard freestyle at 44.45 seconds, then won the 25-yard freestyle at 19.56 seconds, with teammate Decker Newby taking the 25-yard backstroke at 26.47 seconds, and Janssen won the 25-yard breaststroke at 29.47 seconds,
In the nine-and-10-year-old division, Collinsville’s Sawyer Meredith won the 100-yard freestyle at 1:25.94, with the Gators winning the 100-yard medley relay at 1:59.08, then the Stingrays won their first event of the evening as Aiden Flynn won the 50-yard freestyle at 37.62 seconds, Meredith then won the 50-yard backstroke at 45.66 seconds, Issac Davis of Collinsville won the 50-yard breaststroke at 1:05.81, and Flynn brought home the 50-yard butterfly for Sunset Hills at 53.40 seconds.
In the 11-and-12-year-old groupings, Esa Schreader of the Gators won the 100-yard freestyle at 1:10.32, then Collinsville’s team won the 200-yard medley relay at 3:28.65, Schreader won the 50-yard freestyle at 32.95 seconds, Collinsville’s Nolan Varady won the 50-yard backstroke at 48.19 seconds, Schreader won the 50-yard breaststroke at 45.19 seconds, ant the Gators won the 200-yard freestyle relay at 3:04.77.
For the races in the 13-and-14-year-old division, Owen Pajares of Collinsville took the 100-yard freestyle at 1:18.83, while the Gators won the 200-yard medley relay at 1:57.07, Pajares won the 50-yard freestyle at 30.00 seconds, the Gators’ Bob Nanney won the 50-yard backstroke at 30.32 seconds, and also won the 100-yard individual medley at 1:00.13, and in the 200-yard freestyle relay race, Collinsville won the race at 1:43.84.
In the 15-18-year-old races, Collinsville’s Bram Malsbury won the 100-yard freestyle at 55.56 seconds, while teammate Jackson Bracamontes won the 100-yard individual medley at 1:17.60. Luke Berger of the Gators won the 50-yard freestyle at 24.87 seconds, Malsbury won the 50-yard backstroke at 29.75 seconds, it was Berger taking the 50-yard breaststroke at 31.56 seconds, and also the 50-yard butterfly at 26.93 seconds.
In the girls races, starting with the eight-and-under division, Collinsville’s Emberly Parrish won the 50-yard freestyle at 50.26 seconds, while in the 100-yard individual medley, Sunset Hills’ Margo Deist won the race at 1:32.33, teammate Allie Keller won the 25-yard freestyle at 20.15 seconds, Collinsville’s Amy Gibson won the 25-yard backstroke at 24.44 seconds, Parrish and Keller finished in a dead heat in the 25-yard breaststroke, both coming in at 33.01 seconds, Alison Cross of the Gators won the 25-yard butterfly at 39.35 seconds, and the Gators won the 100-yard freestyle relay at 1:47.75.
In the nine-and-10-year-old age group, Collinsville won the 100-yard medley relay at 1:42.53, the Gators’ Aster Malsbury won the 50-yard freestyle at 42.33 seconds, Margo Deist won the 50-yard backstroke for the Stingrays at 41.53 seconds, Malsbury won the 50-yard breaststroke at 1:06.12, Margo Deist came back to win the 50-yard butterfly at 43.75 seconds, and Collinsville won the 100-yard freestyle relay at 1:31.06.
In the 11-and-12 age grouping, Collinsville’s Josie Forman won the 100-yard freestyle at 1:01.32, while the Gators took the 200-yard medley relay at 2:19.82, Hildi Deist of the Stingrays captured the 100-yard individual medley at 1:15.94, Forman also won the 50-yard backstroke at 33.19 seconds, Betty Cadagin of the Stingrays won the 50-yard breaststroke at 40.18 seconds, teammate Taylor Nanney won the 50-yard butterfly at 31.94 seconds, and the Gators won the 200-yard freestyle relay at 2:05.91.
In the 13-and-14-year-old races, Collinsville’s Vivian Cross took the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:02.28, while the Gators won the 200-yard medley relay at 2:08.94, Collinsville continued its dominance when Annie Tucker won the 100-yard individual medley at 1:18.20, Cross won the 50-yard freestyle at 28.75 seconds, Sunset Hills’ Aster Carson won the 50-yard backstroke at 34.27 seconds, Cross won her third event of the evening with the 50-yard breaststroke at 34.69 seconds, teammate Averie Stolle won the 50-yard butterfly at 33.91 seconds, and the Gators won the 200-yard freestyle relay at 1:57.38.
Finally, in the 15-18 age group, the Gators’ Claire Berger won the 100-yard freestyle at 59.07 seconds, then won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:09.31, Collinsville’s Brinley Presson took the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.69 seconds, winning her second event of the day in the 50-yard backstroke at 32.25 seconds, teammate Jane Wisnasky took the 50-yard breaststroke at 40.03 seconds, and Berger won the 50-yard butterfly at 30.94 seconds.
