Man Critically Injured in Late Night Shooting

ST. LOUIS – A man was injured in a shooting late Tuesday, July 21, 2026, in St. Louis’ Academy neighborhood, and a 27-year-old man was arrested as St. Louis Metropolitan Police District 5 officers investigate what police said likely stemmed from an earlier disagreement.

The shooting happened shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the 1400 block of Union Boulevard, according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s District 5.

Officers responding to a call for a shooting found a 35-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head.

He was taken to a hospital for treatment and was listed in critical but stable condition.

Police said a 27-year-old man was arrested in connection with the shooting.

St. Louis police said information suggests the shooting likely grew out of a disagreement that occurred earlier that day.

The investigation into the full circumstances remains ongoing.
