ALTON – The Alton Police Department has made significant progress in the investigation into the fatal shooting that occurred on Friday, July 24, 2026, in the 200 block of West Delmar Avenue.
On Wednesday, July 29, 2026, a juvenile was taken into custody in connection with the ongoing investigation. Because the individual is a juvenile, no additional information will be released.
As a result of the same investigation, the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office has charged Tiffany L. Sanders, a 37-year-old woman from Cahokia Heights, Illinois, with Obstructing Justice and Endangering the Life or Health of a Child.
Those charges are alleged to have arisen from actions taken both before and during the course of the investigation.
“Our deepest condolences remain with the family and loved ones of Terrance Johnson as they continue to grieve this tragic loss,” said Chief Jarrett Ford. The Alton Police Department would like to thank the Illinois State Police, the Madison County Coroner’s Office, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, and the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office for their assistance and support throughout this investigation.
“The investigation remains active and ongoing.”
