Bonnie S. Lappe, age 68, of Aviston, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2026, at her home. She was born March 27, 1958, in Breese, a daughter of the late George and Agnes, nee Wiese, Lappe.
In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Lappe.
Bonnie is survived by her cousins; dear neighbors and friends, Lisa Goestenkors and Shelly Leffler; her beloved dogs, Bentley and Baxter; and her loving St. John United Church of Christ family.
Bonnie dedicated her entire career to Scott Air Force Base, where she worked as a Paralegal Specialist in the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate until her retirement. She was a lifelong and devoted member of St. John United Church of Christ in Breese, and her faith and church family were an important part of her life. For many years, Bonnie faithfully served as the church organist and choir director, sharing her musical talents and helping provide a meaningful part of countless worship services and special occasions.
Her involvement at St. John extended well beyond the organ and choir. Bonnie was a member of the Women of Faith Group and played an instrumental role in Vacation Bible School and the church’s Christmas Cookie Walk. She generously gave her time and talents wherever they were needed and treasured the friendships she formed within her church family.
Bonnie was also a true animal lover and had a special place in her heart for her dogs, Bentley and Baxter, whom she absolutely adored. Their companionship brought her great happiness and was a special part of her everyday life.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John United Church of Christ in Breese with Pastor Eric Bosaw officiating. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery in Breese.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at St. John United Church of Christ in Breese.
In lieu of flowers, plants, or other gifts, memorials may be made to St. John United Church of Christ or the Clinton County Humane Society and will be received at the church or by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th Street, Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
