24-Year-Old Dies In Early Sunday, Aug. 9, 2026, Crash

ST. LOUIS – A 24-year-old North County man died Sunday morning, Aug. 9, 2026, after a two-vehicle crash on the 8200 block of Hall Street, where investigators said his Honda Accord struck a Ford Edge after entering the southbound lane.

District 6 officers were called to the crash around 8:40 a.m. Sunday. St. Louis Metropolitan Police Accident Reconstruction officers will investigate.

St. Louis Metropolitan Police said a preliminary investigation found that the Honda Accord, driven by Xavier Wilbon, was traveling north on Hall Street, approaching Gimblin, while the Ford Edge was traveling south on Hall Street after Gimblin. The Honda reportedly began driving in the center turn lane, then into the southbound lane, and struck the Ford Edge.

Wilbon was pronounced dead at the scene. He was positively identified, and his family has been notified.

The driver of the Ford Edge, a 57-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing.
