Anne Stokes, 90, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 5:23 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at her home. She was born August 6, 1933, in Gillespie, Illinois, a daughter of the late John and Florence Vlahon. Anne had worked many years at National Graphics in St. Louis and later as a clerk at Mrs. Seibold’s Baker in Granite City. She enjoyed visiting the local casinos and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by two sons, Keith Stokes of Collinsville and Randy (Linda) Stokes of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Crystal Stokes, Justin Stokes and Victoria Stokes; two great grandchildren, Makensie Budnicki and Makayla Hays; nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Wilbur “Bud” Stokes and twelve brothers and sisters. In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Vitas Hospice and may be accepted at the funeral chapel. www.irwinchapel.com
