Judith Streif

Judith Rae “Judy” Streif, 84, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 9:25 p.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at her home with her family at her side. 

She was born January 23, 1939, in Belleville, Illinois, a daughter of the late Raymond and Toleda (Kraft) Berger. 

She married Leon Frederick Streif on June 14, 1967, in Lebanon, Illinois and he passed away on December 22, 1996. 

Judy and her late husband owned and operated Vandalia Bus Lines since 1975 and she retired in 2020.  She had a passionate love for animals and supported many animal shelters and St. Vincent de Paul.  She was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed the many Cardinal Cruises and loved her days of traveling.  She was an amazing woman who brought laughter and enjoyment to everyone she met.  There wasn’t a person whose heart she didn’t touch and lives she enlightened. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends. 

She is survived by nine children and spouses, Gregory and Sharon Streif of Crestwood, Kentucky, Dale and Jenice Streif of Belleville, Deanna and Dale Clifton of Pontoon Beach, Peggy and Joseph Hock of Irvington, Alabama, Lori Ditzler of Caseyville, Dennis and Mary Streif of Columbia, Roger and Linda Streif of Caseyville, Norma Stafford of Caseyville and Melissa and Clarence Kaemmerer of Red Bud; sixteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Corliss Berger of Belleville and Dave and Peggy Berger of Belleville; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary Ann and Ernie Pfershey of Millstadt, Becky Vinson of Lake Tahoe, California and Teresa  and Rick Biasini of San Diego, California; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Bart Robert Streif; son-in-law, Terry Ditzler; two brothers, Paul Berger and Raymond Berger and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Diane and Bill Forbeck and Barbara Tayon. 

In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon, Illinois on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. 

Visitation will continue at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 901 North Alton Street in Lebanon, Illinois on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 10 a.m. until time of a Funeral Mass at noon with Father Paul Wienhoff as celebrant. 

Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lebanon.
