Cynthia Godwin

Cynthia A. “Cindy” Godwin, 66, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 7:12 a.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Christian Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.  She was born in Germany on October 11, 1956, a daughter of the late Edwin and Joanne (Harvath) Manning.  Cindy married Russell Dean Godwin in Granite City on May 5, 1982, and he passed away on March 3, 2013.  She had retired from St. Elizabeth Hospital in Granite City after many years of dedicated service as a medical transcriptionist.  She was a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Granite City.  Cindy loved flowers and was always tending to her beautiful yard full of beauty.  She cherished her children and grandchildren and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.  She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Holly Wojtysiak and Thomas Biebel of Freeburg, Illinois and Amy Godwin and Kyle Richardson of St. Peters, Missouri; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Brittan Eugea of Maryville, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Cooper Richardson, Jillian Richardson, Joshua Wojtysiak, Lauren Biebel, Sophie Biebel, Jacob Biebel and Emma Eugea; two great grandchildren, Shun Matsumoto and one on the way, Zoey Wojtysiak; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Shaun and Linda Manning of Waterloo, Illinois and Scott and Lisa Manning of Granite City, Illinois; other extended family and friends.  In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Kelly Nipper and a brother, Daniel Manning.  In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 with Reverend Sharon Autenrieth officiating.  A graveside service will be held at the Dutch Ridge Cemetery in Pomona, Illinois at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.  Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice and may be accepted at the funeral chapel. www.irwinchapel.com
